Located in the modern district of Zamalek, the Cairo Tower (Burj Al-Qahira) is a transmission tower built of granite and wrapped in a structure reminiscent of a lotus flower. The tower, built in 1961, is 187 meters high and during 10 years boasted the highest construction record on the African continent.
Cairo from above
At the top is an open-air lookout that offers magnificent panoramic views of the capital. You can also contemplate a breathtaking view of Cairo from the tower’s revolving restaurant, which moving slowly gives us a 360-degree view of the city.
The best lookout
If you want to climb the tower, keep in mind that on certain days the characteristic haze of the city will not allow you to see clearly the horizon: take care to choose a day when the sky is clear and clear!
